We arrived excited at the Audubon Center after a 90 minute bus ride. Our first task was to unload the bus and carry into the Elizabeth Crosby Lodge. All our meals were held at the Audubon cafeteria. Students and staff provided kp services One of our classes explored the streams to find macroinvertebrates. The amount and kind of macroinvertebrates tells us about the health of the stream. We compared the macroinvertebrates from the stream with those found in a vernal pool. Students went through challenges as a group. We explored the woods for insects. We compared the insects found in the woods with those found in the field. Studying insects requires a close-up look. A highlight was the ropes course. Students were clipped in twice to a safety line. Mr. Tatlonghari was able to demonstrate safe passage across one of the events. Some students chose to go the more challenging route. Mr. Lindquist made it across too. At the end of the course, we had to take the zipline safely down to the bottom. The Audubon Center is known for the raptors it shelters.
