Making A Kite
MATERIALS YOU WILL NEED:

Tape

8 1/2 x 11 copier paper

Drinking straw (available from any fast food restaurant)

Ruler

Pencil, crayons, markers etc.(to decorate the kite)

Hole punch

Ribbon or yarn (tail)

Kite string (I found kite string at Walgreens, Walmart and FleetFarm)

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Fold the copier paper in half  (like a book).

  2. Open the paper to a full page.  At the top of the paper, measure from the center fold,  3 cm.  Make a mark at the edge of the paper.

  3. At the bottom of the paper, measure from the center fold, 8 cm. Make a mark at the edge of the paper.

  4. Using the ruler to make a straight line, connect the two marks with a diagonal line.

  5. Fold the paper (like a book) same as before, with the diagonal pencil line on the outside.  Next fold on the diagonal line.

  6. Fold apart the two edges, (these are the sides of  the kite) and tape the center at the top and bottom.

  7. Tape a drinking straw across the top/wide end of the kite. The straw will keep the kite from collapsing in wind.

  8. Tape a ribbon to the the bottom/narrow end of the kite.

  9. Punch a hole in the top center of the kite.  Put the end of the kite string through the hole and tie it to the kite.
