Weightless Wonder Day 2
This is Tight! Early we rose to set out on our mini-van adventure toNASA’s Ellington Field. The first thing we saw was a replica of theDC-9 that we will fly in. The first thing we heard was super-duper loudnoise coming from the jet planes taking off above us. We have to wearear plugs. As your behavior support teacher at school I always stressto you importance of learning and safety. The first thing NASA stafftalked with us about was safety. We found out that all of yourexperiments and equipment needed to be cleaned up and watched veryclosely. We even had to count every screw and nail in our glove box. Ifwe left even the tiniest little thing like a back from an earring or ascrew, it could damage the plane and cost $10, 000 (that’s like a 50Nintendo Wii’s). We also watched the Space shuttle launch from KennedySpace Center in Florida on TV. A lot of learning took place today and Ineed to make sure that I get enough sleep tonight. Listening and payingattention is hard when you’re tired. Oh PS we met a famous AstronautDotti. She spoke about her dreams as a teacher to go to space. Sheworked hard, applied to do it and she did! I can’t wait to ride toWeightless Wonder. Maybe someday I will really get to go to space.
NASA Day #1
A lot of traveling today but well worth it! Houston is socool! The first thing that we did today after finally arriving inHouston was get pedicure (that’s a foot massage and someone paints yourtoenails and you sit in a massage chair)……Relaxing. We ate some famousTexas ribs and checked into our luxury suites. I feel like a celebrityhere. We told the hotel staff “We’re with NASA.” They treat us sorespectfully. We even get free breakfast with waffles, fruit, eggs, sausage and cereal (but the good stuff). We had a late meeting. Timefor bed!
