About Ms. Johnson

Hello!  My name is Susan Johnson.  I've been teaching in St. Paul Public Schools since 1997.  I taught fifth and sixth grade at North End, fourth grade at Battle Creek, and this is my first year at Crossroads.  I'm excited to be here and look forward to the year round schedule.

Besides teaching fourth grade, I enjoy practicing and teaching yoga, traveling, cooking, gardening, and spending time with my family.

Bakken 3/21/12
We are currently reading:

A Wrinkle In Time by Madeline L'Engle

What We're Learning:

Math:  We are currently in unit 6:  Division, Map Reference Frames, and Measures of Angles.  The 4 main focuses in this unit are 1) practice division number stories, 2) understand how to interpret remainders in division problems, 3) practice drawing, measuring, and naming angles, and 4) understand ordered pairs on a number grid.

Writing/Speaking:  We are currently listiening to famous speeches and responding in our writer's notebooks with feelings, reactions, and questions.  As a part of this unit each student will choose a famous speech to recite before the class.

Science:  We are wrapping up our human body unit.  Students have been studying the various systems of the body and creating their own life size maps of their inner bodies!
