Mrs. Kathleen Devaney

Hello & Welcome! I teach a first grade class on the Science side. I graduated from the University of Northwestern with a B.S. in Elementary Education K-6.  I have been a part of the Crossroads community since 2001. I began as a parent and a volunteer when my own two children attended Crossroads (they are both in college now). I finally joined the Crossroads staff in 2006. I have been a guest teacher, a paraprofessional, an Intersession teacher, a reading and math intervention teacher and finally a classroom teacher (my favorite).  I am also one of the Lego League coaches here (check out the display case across from the office). I love the year round calendar, the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics) focus, the diversity of the students and the dedicated staff here at Crossroads. When I am not teaching or playing with Legos and robots, I enjoy working in my garden, camping, hiking, reading, playing the violin, playing in the snow (yes I LOVE winter) and spending time with my family.  I look forward to getting to know my students and their families! Please reach out to me if you have any questions, concerns, or funny stories to tell.
