Ms. Whiteis

 Welcome to 5th grade with Ms. April Whiteis!

I am excited to get to know you in this educational partnership. I believe in building strong relationships with students and families in order to best support the academic, as well as social emotional, growth of each child. Every family and student brings their unique experiences, strengths, and personalities that contribute to our diverse classroom community. 

I live in, and grew up in St Paul, and attended St. Paul Public Schools. I graduated from St. Paul Central High School. I received my Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education from The College of St. Catherine's in 2006 and began teaching in SPPS that fall. I joined the amazing community at Crossroads in 2011. I recently completed my Masters in Education through Grand Canyon University in Arizona.

I have 4 children- Ariana, Carter, Marshall and Laila. I enjoy watching my children’s sporting events which include football, basketball, Taekwondo and dance. I also enjoy traveling, camping, playing board games and watching movies. 

I beleive it is essential that there is clear, consistant, and open communication. Classdojo wil be the primary mode of communication with families. Please be sure you are connected and check for updates frequently. This is the fastest way to get in touch with me should you have questions, concerns, or need support. Schoology is the platform utilized by students in 5th grade. Families are encouraged to check in with student work in Schoology often.
